Surprise! Death Stranding is available on Xbox now – WGB
One day before the game’s 5th anniversary, Death Stranding has sidled onto Xbox in a surprise port that came out of nowhere, rocking an affordable price-tag of $19.99.
This is the Director’s Cut edition, so it comes with a few bonuses goodies
“It is my pleasure to finally announce that Death Stranding Director’s Cut will be delivered to Xbox players,” said crazy videogame genius Hideo Kojima. “I would like to thank all the fans who have stayed connected with us as well as everyone in the Xbox community who have been patiently waiting. Kojima Productions (Death Stranding) will continue to connect more and more players around the world, so please stay tuned.”
The game was previously only available on console on PS4 and PS5, though it did appear on PC Game Pass.
Kojima Productions also proudly announced that it now fully owns the rights to the Death Stranding IP. Previously, it was Sony that owned the rights, which is presumably why Kojima has now been able to port the game to Xbox. The PC version was published by 505 Games.
The sequel, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, is still being worked on in partnership with Sony and is currently only announced for PS5. I feel fairly confident in assuming this means the sequel will be a timed exclusive for Sony. Hopefully, Xbox owners won’t have to wait five years for it.
