You Can’t Trust Video Game Reviews Anymore
In an era like today where large media publications, influencers & journalists are being paid behind the scenes to promote & shill products that are subpar, the popular PC platform Steam is the one & only place where gamers go to to read up & write on whether a new or an old game is worth purchasing for the displayed price tag. All that ends today with the rise of access journalism. With the large controversy surrounding the release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, review publications like IGN are putting out false reviews (a score of 9/10) to ensure that the obviously terrible excuse of a game meets it’s sales targets. On the other hand, you have PC platforms such as Steam that is manipulating & deleting reviews for Dragon Age: The Veilguard so that people can be mislead into purchasing the game, atleast PC gamers. With all these events taking place begs many questions. Does this mean that Steam might remove their refund policy? Who can you go to for trustworthy reviews anymore? How can you trust a large YouTuber/streamer if they beat around the bush by saying a certain new AAA game is good on release day? Will this be the case for all mainstream media?
