Enigma of Fear Walkthrough – Crystal Cave – Goliath
Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough for Enigma of Fear. This guide will try to cover as much of the puzzles and mysteries as we can.
Enigma of Fear is a game of investigation and mystery in Pixel Art/3D where your deduction is your guide. Play and enjoy this story in the way that you want to, so we highly recommend that you explore and interact with its world as much as possible.

Head into Crystal Cave, taking care of the Zombie on the way. Check the note on your way in.
Pick up the ammo from the table. Kill the next Zombies – and go past the entrance to the far end. There is a Cursed Item at the end of the mound.
Next, enter the cave. Break the crates near the entrance for a MedKit. Go up and break the crates near the switch for ammo.
Check the note on the side, as it will tell you that the Illuminated Crystals has the effect of seeing everything in “Third Person”.
You also learn that Goliath practically lives there. Next pick up the ammo from the blue table on the left – where you can also find the Agent File for Alan Portlash and Oswald Magani. Now if you interact with the switch (01) your POV will change.
Interact with the switch on the door to open the door and head through it. In the next room, you can find the map for the cave.
You can find a crumpled piece of paper near the crystals on the right. If you now interact with the switch (02) in the middle of the room – you will have a change of POV. Also The Blood Beast will show up in the room.
Run away from him and into the corridor on the top left of the room. At the end of this path you will find a photograph of a generator.
Run back to Switch 02 and move up to the right and you will come up on Switch 03. Run past it to the path in the left and you will find the Switch for the Perpetual Engine Room.
Go back to Switch 03 and you will see that it is not powered. Check the recorder that is on the left of the Switch 03. Go up to the right and head up to find Switch 04. Break the crates on the left of the Switch for some ammo. If you follow the path here you will find another entrance to the Perpetual Engine room, which is locked now. Head to the right past Switch O4 you will find Switch 05.
This one is also powered down meaning you can’t enter the Control Room. Follow the cable downwards to find Switch 10.
Follow this cable down to find Switch 09 – which is powered down, same as 10.
Check the recorder from the table on the left. Follow this cable to the right to find Switch 11.
If you head to the right you will find the bones of an agent and a switch. Interacting with this switch will teleport you outside the room – the containment zone.
This seems the place where you can trap The Blood Beast. Lure him in here and use the Switch to teleport out and lock the door. Head to the left from Switch 11 and you will come to a grassy area and Switch 08.
Follow the cable from this Switch to the left to get to the Dorms and Switch 07.
Pick up the letter from the table near the bunkbeds. There is another letter near the single beds near the entrance and breaking the crates nets you ammo. There is a path blocked off on the left – if you break it down with the crowbar you can access the path to the Underground.
Inside you will find a blood-splattered note – indicating symbols on the intro menu sigil.
Break the crates here for some ammo. In the room on the left, you can pick up a photograph and check on a recorder. You will also find Theo’s backpack – which seems to have exploded. You will also find the note to solve the statue puzzle in the Graveyard – which we solved earlier for the Déjà vu radio.
If you check the path leading to the Underground, you can find a letter from Alan. Otherwise head back to Switch 08. Then head up the path next to the switch. We should have a general idea of the cave now – so make your way to Switch 04 and interact with the switch.
Now head to the right and you will come to Switch 05 – which will now be powered on. Interact with this now and move to the right again.
This will grant you access to the Control Room.
Check the letter on the crates near the entrance. This will talk about the Paranormal Flashlight that we will need for the Spiral Castle.
Check the note on the table in the middle of the room to learn more about The Blood Beast. Check the recorder in the large cabinet on the left.
If you check the middle screen on the console you will see that only Switch 04 and 05 are powered right now.
The third screen will show that the Blood Beast is still not contained. The first screen has a lever, that you can pull down to unlock the Perpetual Engine room.
Head back to Switch 04 and go past it and enter the path on the left. This will lead you to the Engine room. Check the note on the right of the generator.
There is also a note in this room about trapping Goliath or the Blood Beast in the containment room we came across earlier. Now head to Switch 04, power it on and run to Switch 05 and turn it on. This will cause Goliath to show up and he will chase you. Run to Switch 10 and power it on.
With him following you, get to Switch 09 and turn it on.
From here kite him to Switch 08 and turn to the right to Switch 11 (shoot him if he stops following you). Eventually lure him into the Containment room and teleport out.
Now head back to Switch 04 and enter the doorway marked Do Not Enter.
Check the recorder in the middle of this section. Then a weird thing happens as you venture further in the cave near the Eye – the POV changes to look like a typical game with a 3D minimap.
You will also see a code 110100101 and that you have to open Alan’s room.
