The Android Amazon App Store is set to close down on August 20th this year.

As reported by TechCrunch, a notice to developers and a new support page said they can no longer submit new apps to the store.

From August 20th, devs will also lose access to the store on Android, while Amazon is discontinuing its Coins program from the same date. Any coins users have after this date will be refunded.

Still availble on Amazon devices

While new app submissions for Android are no longer supported, devs can continue submitting updates to their live apps until August 20th.

Meanwhile Japanese users will no longer be able to make in-app purchases on Android devices. However, these will still be available in other marketplaces until the store’s closure.

The Amazon App Store continue to be available in future on other devices, including the Fire TV and Fire Tablet devices.
