Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough for Carmen Sandiego.

For more information on Carmen Sandiego beyond this walkthrough, check out the official website here.

Note that some elements of the game are randomized, or change depending on your successes and failures. Your experience may slightly vary from what’s shown in the Carmen Sandiego walkthrough below.

Sky High – The Caper Across the Sky

We start this mission in Cairo, Egypt.

We’ll make our first stop the Grand Egyptian Museum. When you’re asked about what the thug is looking for, pick “Lotus Chalice”, as that is associated with the Egyptian god Heh, who is associated with the number one million.

This gets us a City Lead. Press on to the Khan El-Khalili Market.

This is another pickpocket section, so tail the thug and grab a ticket stub off of him for another City Lead.

Finally, head to the River Nile Cruise.

Your goal is quite simple here, go to the far right of the ship and fix the radar.

Once you’re done, stay in the area and talk to the captain of the ship on the uppermost deck. Then, go to the lower deck and talk to the passengers to get as much information as possible.

The City Leads you have assembled so far point to bebop music, the Gulf of Mexico, and a Presidential Republic, so you’re looking to go to New Orleans, USA. Head there now.

We’ll begin with the French Quarter, where you’ll have to interact with a mail box and pick its lock to access the mail inside. For more investigation, stay in the area and talk to the man near the trash can who’s watching the juggler.

Next, head to Pirate’s Alley, where you’ll have to use your goggles again.

Use the following combination of goggles to proceed, and remember to use your Ultraviolet filter constantly to spot V signs, which will earn you a skill bonus.

Nightvision -> Ultraviolet -> Infrared -> Ultraviolet -> Nightvision -> Ultraviolet -> Nightvision -> Nightvision

After this, we move on to the St Louis Cemetery.

Here, we have to find a tomb that reads as “off”. If you poked around in the French Quarter, you might have learned that New Orleans has many above-ground graves to avoid the graves getting flooded.

Therefore, the Underground Tomb Hatch is “off” here. Select that. You don’t need to search the locker afterward.

Your next set of City Leads suggest that the destination country has a Prime Minister, is known for circuit boards, and has a monument with feline and aquatic features.

This is Singapore, so fly there now.

We’ll begin with the Merlion Waterfront.

Head down to the water and check the middle spot to find the phone.

Choose to stay, and go to the other (right-hand) side of the water and check the rightmost spot to find the phone case.

Now go to the far left of the area to find a coffee van. Talk to the owner here to get another City Lead.

Next, we head to Gardens by the Bay. Here, you need to glide to the destination by following the course marked out for you.

Once you’re done here, we head to Kampong Glam.

The hint you have here is something about a “pilgrimage”. As ‘Haji’ means pilgrim (one who goes on a Hajj pilgrimage), choose Haji Lane.

Figure out the safe’s combination here in the mini-game to continue.

Once that’s done, we head to our final city destination. The clues here are that the country has an Emperor, clothing involves men-yoroi and kabutos, and there are ryokan, all of which point to Tokyo, Japan.

Here, pick the right location from the clue you get. In our case, the clue was that Fast Eddie B is in a place away from the hustle and bustle, which points to Ueno Park.

This completes the caper.
