Cutting Edge – The Signal Boost Caper
We start off this caper in Mexico City, Mexico. We’ll start off by heading to Guanajuato Alleys.
Here, you might know from a fact that there are 17 Olmec Heads, so choose that option. You’ll get a couple of City Leads.
Next, head to San Andres Míxquic, where you’ll have to disable the Vi-Fi network.
Before we do that, we’ll grab some facts. Go to the main building, where you’ll find a plaque surrounded by skulls. This will yield a fact.
Next, go west from here to find an indigo-colored tree with a plaque below it. Check it for another fact.
Now cross the path to the south to find a Vi-Fi router in the graveyard. Interact with it and solve the frequency puzzle.
You’ll get a City Lead and then choose to stay in the area. You’ll find a phone lying on the ground near the plaque covered by skulls. Check it out.
Hack the phone for another City Lead.
Finally, we head to Palacio de Correos. Here, dodge the lasers and solve the wiring puzzle to get a Suspect Clue.
You’ll then be presented with a vault door puzzle. Solve it to get a City Lead.
Our next city is Reykjavik, Iceland, as we’re looking at krónur for currency, North Atlantic as an approximate location, and a parliamentary republic, amongst other clues.
Here, we’ll begin with the Viking Museum. As usual, we’ll explore the museum before freeing the VILE rookie.
Go to the northwest to find a plaque that’ll get you a fact about the Northern Lights.
Next, go to the northeast wall to find a painting of Vikings on a longboat. Interact with the big book below the painting to get another fact.
Now enter the security room just southeast of the painting, and interact with the safe here.
This will get you the key to free the VILE rookie. Return to where you started, and go southwest to get on the longboat.
Here, interact with the hatch to free the VILE rookie. You’ll get a Suspect Clue.
Choose to stay in the area now and interact with the Vi-Fi box near the hatch. This will get you a City Lead.
Next, go to the Shore Walk. Here, choose to investigate the blue lights, which we know from a fact that they are the rarest in the Northern Lights. You’ll get a City Lead from this.
Choose to scan the buoys, and you’ll get another City Lead.
Finally, we head to Laugavegur. This is a grappling hook section, so chase down the VILE operative and you’ll get a Suspect Clue.
Our next destination is Istanbul, Turkey, based on hints like the Mediterranean Sea and the crescent moon logo.
We’ll begin with Topkapi Palace. Here, before turning any filters on, interact with the VILE operative talking on the phone.
Then, turn on sonar and interact with the red object in the fountain. Turn on sonar again and repeat clicking on the red object in the fountain.
Return to the previous location and turn on Ultraviolet. Follow the footsteps to the left.
Once again, turn on the sonar and you’ll find another jammer behind a cushion on the sofa. When you’re close to the sofa, turn on sonar again and interact with the cushion to find the jammer.
Return to the previous location now and turn on infrared. Click on the brazier that’s closer to the windows.
Turn on sonar now and interact with the jammer in the brazier.
Return to the previous location now and use ultraviolet to bring up the footprints again. Follow them to the right and with all filters turned off, interact with the VILE operative.
Now solve a frequency puzzle and you’ll get a City Lead.
Next up, we’ll head to Tesak. Here, there are many books you can check out.
Check out the orange book near where you start out. You’ll get a fact here.
Go north and then to the western wing through the open doorway.
In the western wing, there’s a red book in the middle of the area – check it out for a fact.
Still in the western wing, go to the northwest to find a couple of books that will yield you another fact.
Head on to the eastern wing now, past the librarian.
Just near the door, you’ll find a couple of books next to a guy typing on his laptop.
Go a little south to find a couple of blue books. Check them out for another fact.
Finally, go north on the same table to find a large box covered in wires.
Interact with it and then take the wires off by clicking on the grey tape for each wire.
First take off the yellow wire, then the red one, and finally, the green one.
Turn the box so that the Wi-Fi logo is facing the right side. Interact with the panel to its left and you’ll get a Suspect Clue.
Now, go to the center of the library again and talk to the librarian. You’ll get a City Lead.
Finally, we head to xx. Here, you’ll be asked who the first Ottoman sultan was – answer Osman I. You’ll get a City Lead.
Next, you’ll be asked which Ottoman sultan was ‘super duper selfless’. Answer with Murad II, who abdicated of his own free will.
Finally, you’ll be asked which sultan was “final two time sultan”. Answer with Mustafa I. You’ll get a Suspect Clue.
Next, use the city leads to head to the next destination. In our case, this was Barcelona, Spain. Issue a warrant and use the location clue to find the suspect.
