IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios are working on 007 First Light, a story-driven action-adventure game featuring a standalone original, re-imagined origin story of a young James Bond. The game’s debut trailer confirmed that the title is coming to Switch 2 in 2026, but it also left fans with one burning question.
For almost all James Bond games, we see developers take an actor who portrayed the spy on the silver screen and use them in the digital world. That includes Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan, Daniel Craig and others. 007 First Light is different, as it’s a Bond experience unto itself, so a fresh face had to be cast.
While IO Interactive hasn’t said who is lending their likeness/talents to Bond in 007 First Light, fans tend to think Dexter: Original Sin actor Patrick Gibson is the right answer. Unfortunately, it seems we’re not going to get a confirmation on that until all parties involved are good and ready to answer.
Comicbook.com spoke to 007 Franchise Director Jonathan Lacaille to get the skinny on who’s behind Bond in 007 First Light, and their answer didn’t give any details on who, but it did tease when we might get the details.
“We want people to care about the game first, we wanted to introduce a good game and get people excited about our choices. The genre, the story, introducing this new world to players. This has to be the focus, this is what we’re presenting today. There’s a lot of news, the name of the game is a big one. For everything about the cast and the voice actors, we’ll talk more about that in-depth when we talk about the story and so on later this summer.”
