Nintendo has made some changes on the Switch eShop recently that should help quite a bit in when it comes to companies that game the system to get their titles on the top of the charts. What Nintendo also needs to do is crack down on the titles that make it to the eShop itself, as yet another blatant rip-off has surfaced.
Schedule I on PC is a huge hit right now, and sales are continuing at a breakneck pace. In Schedule I you manufacture and distribute a range of drugs throughout the grungy city of Hyland Point. The goal is to expand your empire with properties, businesses, employees and more. There’s been no word of a port to any console for the time being, but you might be fooled into thinking otherwise on the Switch eShop.
Turns out rip-offs of Schedule I have popped up on various digital game shops, with “Schedule 1: Syndicate” and “Dope Wars: Schedule 1” making their way to PS5. Those titles have nothing to do with the actual Schedule I, and neither does “Schedule I – Mafia Empire.” It’s another game from a random third party that’s aiming to capitalize on the original title’s success with similar art, naming and more.
UIGAMES is the company behind Schedule I – Mafia Empire, and they clearly have no shame. From artwork to in-game graphics, game name to subject matter, this title is doing all it can to fool people into thinking it’s the actual Schedule I. There’s no doubt going to be a few people who are fooled, but hopefully Nintendo will at least grant those people a refund if/when they ask for one.
There’s no movement on Schedule I – Mafia Empire being yanked from the Switch eShop yet, but maybe it’s just a matter of time. If/when the game is pulled, we’ll be sure to let you know.
