NetEase Games has released a new zombie action game on Android. It’s Deadly Dudes which is set in a zombie-filled alternate 90s timeline. It’s a side-scrolling game with survival strategy and a heavy dose of dark comedy.
The game was actually titled as Retro Rampage previously. It almost spent a year in early access (since 2024). With a compact 2D design, it lets you chase the villain around the city from mission to mission.
Run & Gun
The visual and audio style of Deadly Dudes is a pure 90s vibe. The city streets, the old-school vehicles, the graffiti-covered walls, and the pumping retro soundtrack; all have it.
You have to take down wave of zombies using a wide arsenal of weapons. There are pistols, shotguns, and rifles. Every weapon behaves differently, so switching between them is necessary.
The game puts a lot of focus on base-building and strategic defense. You can rescue survivors, upgrade shelter structures, craft better gear, and set up defensive towers.
Deadly Dudes also makes room for preparation and planning in between the destruction. Your shelter is your last stand and safe haven, and it plays a big part in whether you survive or fall.
Deadly Dudes has an entertaining cast!
The hero dudes come with their own special skills and backgrounds. There’s a classic gunslinger, a demolition expert, a tech-savvy guy and more. Combining their powers with your weapon choices allows for different tactics and styles. It has a material gaining idle system as well.
Mixing comedy with chaos, the game gives you a short background story. Dr. Robotnik is the main villain and due to him, you end up entering the zombie-filled city. And there are tons of events where you can grab rewards.
