A new free mobile game is up for grabs on the Epic Games Store, and this time, it’s Machinarium. It’s available for free from August 28th to September 4th, 2025. It’s available to Android users worldwide.
Machinarium is an award-winning point-and-click adventure popular for its hand-drawn visuals and wordless storytelling. Released in 2009 first, it’s developed by Amanita Design, the same studio behind Samorost, Botanicula and Chuchel.
What do you do in the game?
Machinarium follows Josef, a small dome-headed robot who begins his journey after being dumped in a scrapyard. Once reassembled, he sets out toward the city of Machinarium, a rusty and legendary robot metropolis filled with quirky inhabitants.
Josef soon discovers the Black Cap Brotherhood, a gang of villainous robots plotting trouble, and finds himself wrongly imprisoned. What starts as an escape quickly becomes a larger quest to save the city’s head, rescue his girlfriend Berta, and put an end to the Brotherhood’s plans.
The game has everything, from brain teasers and logic challenges to mini-games and occasional tasks, like making Josef a new hat. Instead of spoken dialogue, characters communicate through comic-style thought bubbles and animations.
Every backdrop and character has been drawn in 2D by hand. The visuals are accompanied by atmospheric music composed by Floex, who also created the soundtrack for Samorost 2.
