What do you get if you mix up the isometric style of The Last Ninja and blend it altogether with a bit of cat complexities? Probably this game! A new Commodore 64 project by Polytricity called ‘CityCat Prowl’. This game, created by Robert Ramsay, will have you not only playing as a friendly feline, but you’ll also be prowling through dynamic environments both above and below ground, while also completing tasks and interacting with other characters. So yes, this is one game that, if it does gets finished, may well be a big hit with the C64 community.

Here’s the latest from the website. “A game where you play as a cat just walking through the city streets looking for adventure, interacting with the locals, getting into situations and just trying to find his way home. This game will be a nod to the 4:1 isometric ration rarely seen on C64, have full bespoke bitmaps, handcrafted in Backdrop designer and McDraw, and finally, will have fully animated sprites with 8-way directional control created in Spred64”.
Still to do:
- put together a working demo
- add music
- add interactions and things to do
The road ahead:
- If demand is high, consider a complete physical version for C64’s planned sequels (Way of the paw and Art of the Claw) introducing combat [no spoilers]
The team:
- Working with the awesome talent from Megastyle
- Robert Ramsay [Art] [Prototyping]
