A fresh wave of squad-building opportunities has arrived for the free-to-play football title UFL, as developer Strikerz Inc releases a suite of five new downloadable content packs for the game on Xbox.
These new bundles offer a mix of high-profile player cards and valuable in-game resources, providing both new and existing players with multiple avenues to bolster their clubs.
This new content drop follows in the footsteps of previous high-profile collaborations, continuing to build out the options available in the ambitious football sim.
Build Your Dream Team with New Player Editions
The headline acts of this new DLC wave are three packs focused on acquiring elite talent from two of world football’s biggest clubs.
- VALVERDE | RAPHINHA EDITION (£27.49) – For those looking to build an unstoppable team, this ultimate combo pack offers a star from each side of the Clásico divide. It includes Mastery 2 player cards for both Barcelona’s electrifying winger Raphinha and Real Madrid’s powerhouse midfielder Federico Valverde, alongside a massive 2,150 League Points.
- Raphinha Edition (£16.74) – If the Brazilian winger is your sole target, this pack delivers his Mastery 2 player card and 1,050 League Points to help build your squad around his talent.
- Federico Valverde Edition (£16.74) – Alternatively, master the midfield with this bundle, which includes the outstanding Uruguayan’s Mastery 2 player card and 1,050 League Points.
Bolster Your Resources with New Bundles
For managers who prefer to focus on building their club’s wealth and opening packs, two new resource-focused bundles are also now available.
- UFL Special Bundle (£16.74) – This bundle is designed to give your team a major boost, providing a huge 150,000,000 Credit Points for significant upgrades and customisation. It also includes four packs with a chance to unlock elite player cards or currency rewards (Great CP Pack, Medium LP Pack, Big LP Pack, Great LP Pack).
- UFL Starter Bundle (£4.19) – Perfect for newcomers or those on a budget, this starter pack offers a solid foundation for your club. It includes 60,000,000 Credit Points and a Great CP Pack to get you started.
A Game Still Finding Its Feet?
This continued rollout of premium content, following on from the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo Team Pass, shows a clear strategy of leveraging major star power to attract players. However, it comes against the backdrop of a game that has struggled with its core on-pitch mechanics since launch.
In our 2.5/5 review of UFL, we stated that while some off-the-pitch ideas had legs, the vital core component was lacking: “the gameplay, is way off the mark and there’s a shed load of work to do to improve things to a decent standard… Free, or not, UFL is full of the kind of poor gameplay mechanics that have been weeded out of other football games over the last ten years.“
While these new packs offer enticing new players and valuable resources for the team-building aspect of the game, the fundamental question remains whether the core gameplay has evolved enough to make the investment worthwhile for players.
For dedicated UFL managers who are enjoying the team-building process, these new packs offer a direct path to acquiring some of world football’s biggest names. The question for the wider football gaming community is whether these star signings are enough to truly change the game.
