Let’s answer the major questions.
How Do Keystones Work?
Keystones are nine different magic stones that serve as, uh, keys to enter Mysterious River, a hidden area in the Desolate Deep entrance tunnels. To enter you will need three of the nine keystones, but which keystones the game asks you for are different for each player. For this reason, we’ve noted down the locations of all the keystones, but you don’t need to collect them all.
We’d suggest going to the Mysterious Crack in the right-hand passage in the Desolate Deep and interacting with the three pedestals you find there. This should tell you which keystones you need.
We’d also suggest having Advanced Diving Gear and Flippers to give you plenty of time to work on the puzzle without running out of air. (Once the passageway opens to Mysterious River you can swim through and surface for air.)
Once you’ve placed the three keystones, one wall in Mysterious Crack should open, and let you through into the new area. Follow Mysterious River to reach the Luminescent Cavern.
Keystone Locations
Here are the locations for each keystone, in alphabetical order.
Cliff Keystone
In a gap in the cliffs downhill to the North East of the Red Marlins faction HQ at Castaway Cliffs.

Fossil Keystone
On the pile of rocks on the crane that hangs over the Archaeologist Camp in the centre of Ancient Isle.

Lightning Keystone
The small island at the North of the Grand Reef. Hidden in between some rocks next to a bush.

Mushroom Keystone
Hidden under the front seat in the rowing boat on the West end of Mushgrove Swamp.

Skull Keystone
Inside the giant skull on the Forsaken Isle, to the Southwest of the Jack Marrow NPC. Climb up to the top using the ladders.

Snowflake Keystone
By the base of the pine tree, on the cliff above the campsite in Snowburrow on Snowcap Island, accessed through Snowcap Cave. (If you’re not sure how to reach the area, we have a Fisch Snowburrow guide.)

Sun Keystone
On top of a barrel to the right of the door inside Merlin’s Hunt, on the top of Sunstone Island. Climb your way to the top of the island using the ladder next to the dock.

Turtle Keystone
Found inside the cave uphill from the dock on Terrapin Island. Hidden next to a barrel in the side area to the right of the entrance of the cave, through a gap with planks of wood across it.

Volcano Keystone
On small outcrop on the island in the middle of the magma in the lower area of Roslit Volcano, it’s on the eastern edge, opposite the zipline. Enter the volcano by following the path up from the village and entering the cave there.
