‘Boyfriend Dungeon’ DLC Brings New Weapons to Cuddle
‘Boyfriend Dungeon‘ brings sexy axes, hot hammers, and enticing whips to the Dunj, offering several new weapons to use and romance throughout its dungeon crawling.
If you have already loved your way through the original game, this free DLC gives you some new characters to get to know (and see if you like). If you’ve been thinking that it’s been a long while since it’s been hammer time, you might want to slide up to Leah and see what she’s saying. If you’re more into someone sturdy and strong to swing around, take a little time to get to know Jonah. If you’re more into the villainous types, Dr Holmes should scratch that itch. But they’re a whip, so whip that itch? Either way, they’re the final boss of the game’s new dungeon (you get a new dungeon, too!). Why fight a final boss when you can take them out instead.
We enjoyed the original quite a bit, if you’ll recall. Despite a playful premise (attractive people that you date who are also weapons that help you in combat), the game tackles many serious subjects about dating and growing closer to others. That, and it’s a solid dungeon crawler built around overcoming your character’s personal hang-ups. It makes clever use of its lighter concepts to delve into some darker subject matter with grace and humor, but is no less effective at confronting challenging topics because of it (Content Warning – Stalking, emotional manipulation, unwanted advances, just so you know).
The Boyfriend Dungeon DLC gives you even more of what I loved about the original game. Several new characters, lots of potential conversations and romance opportunities, and a new dungeon to fight my way through. That, and even more of the fantastic music that fueled the main game. If you have the game, you need to grab this free DLC. If you don’t, it’s bigger and better, so maybe try it out?
Boyfriend Dungeon (and its free DLC) are available now on the Nintendo eShop, Microsoft Store, Epic Games Store, and Steam.
