Death Stranding Live-Action Movie in the Works

With Kojima Productions using actual actors as character models, you would think that Death Stranding already feels like a movie. What’s interesting is, we’re getting an actual movie based on Hideo Kojima’s first independent title.

Deadline reports that a Death Stranding movie is in the works, and Kojima Productions has teamed up with Hammerstone Studios to produce the film. No plot has been revealed for the movie yet, but it’s possible the film could be focusing on new characters set in the world of Death Stranding. Who knows, maybe Norman Reedus’ Sam Bridges can show up at one point.

Kojima had this to say about the partnership:

“I couldn’t be more excited about this new partnership with Hammerstone Studios… This is a pivotal moment for the franchise and I’m really looking forward to collaborating with them in bringing DEATH STRANDING to the big screen.”

When Death Stranding came out in 2019, it was met with mixed reviews with some people claiming it to be a fancy sci-fi walking simulator. What nobody was expecting was that it had somehow predicted the pandemic era with an empty world, and a delivery person becoming a pivotal instrument in keeping the human race connected. Even Kojima had  said that he changed the story of Death Stranding 2 because he ‘didn’t want to predict any more future.’

No release date has been set for the Death Stranding film, but you can play Kojima auteur title on PC and PlayStation 4|5.
