Jack Black Performs Peaches Song from Super Mario Bros. Movie in New MV

Despite some underwhelming reviews, The Super Mario Bros. Movie still managed to make a splash at the box office, with the films said to have had the biggest box office opening of any animated movie ever.

The marketing push is still ongoing for the movie, and Lyrical Lemonade has released a new video of Jack Black doing his Peaches ballad from the movie. Check this out:

Despite some critics saying that the film wasn’t perfect, there has been a lot of praise going to Jack Black’s Bowser who apparently stole the show. Funnily enough, there have been comparisons to Jim Carrey’s performance as another video game villain Dr. Robotnik in the Sonic the Hedgehog films.

Though critics may not be loving the film as hoped, the audience score is still pretty strong, so it’s possible we could be getting more Mario movies down the line. I mean, even the Minions movies don’t get a lot of love from critics, but they’re still making those. Maybe the sequel will get critics onboard if it ever pushes forward?

Here’s the synopsis:

While working underground to fix a water main, Brooklyn plumbers Mario (Chris Pratt; Jurassic World and The LEGO Movie franchises) and brother Luigi (Charlie Day; It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) are transported down a mysterious pipe and wander into a magical new world. But when the brothers are separated, Mario embarks on an epic quest to find Luigi.

With the assistance of a Mushroom Kingdom resident Toad (Keegan-Michael Key; The Lion King) and some training from the strong-willed ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom, Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy;The Queen’s Gambit), Mario taps into his own power.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is now screening in theaters.
