Helldivers 2 has been delayed until 2024, but the new trailer looks awesome – WGB, Home of AWESOME Reviews
Although it was originally scheduled to launch by the end of this year, Helldivers 2 has been delayed until February 8, 2024.
To ease the sting of the announcement, Arrowhead Game Studios put out a brand new trailer giving us around 3 minutes of gameplay footage, the best look at the game we’ve had to date. In it we see a team tackling a Bile Titan which I shall henceforth refer to as a Big Ass Ugly Fucking Bug. The trailer honestly makes the game look like heaps of fun, so I’ll be enlisting on day one when it launches on PS5 and PC. Plus, the obvious Starship Troopers inspiration really tickles my fancy.
The trailer also gave us glimpses of some other gameplay mechanics, such as upgrading your ship between battles, and what appeared to humanoid alien species with ships of their own.
As its name so subtly suggests, Helldivers 2 is a sequel to the first game which came out in 2015 for PS3, PS4 and Vita. It launched on Steam later that year, too, giving it the honour of being the first ever Sony game published on PC. While the viewpoint has shifted from a top-down perspective to a more traditional over-the-shoulder camera, the core of the action is still frantic co-op shooting where friendly fire is firmly turned on.
So, will you be enlisting to do your part? And while you wait, might I also suggest checking out Starship Troopers: Extermination which pits you and a load of other players against hordes of bugs?
