Shadow Gambit DLC launches on December 6th, will be Mimimi Games final ever release – WGB, Home of AWESOME Reviews
In a year packed with amazing triple-A releases that are review well and selling like cocaine-laced cupcakes its easy to forget about the smaller but equally awesome games like Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew. The real-time tactics features supernatural pirates sneaking/murdering their way through brilliantly designed level. I gave it a glowing review and strongly recommend it.
Anyway, Shadow Gambit will be getting its first and last pieces of DLC on December 6th. Each of the two expansions is set to include a brand new character with their own unique powers, hopefully complementing the already varied crew of the Red Marley. There will also be a new island in each pack, along with a 6 mission mini-campaign that will presumably be focused on the new character.
Mimimi are keeping the details close to their chest, though. No pricing has been revealed, nor do we even have a hint at what to expect. At least, not yet.
What we do know, however, is that this DLC will be the last thing Mimimi Games ever puts out before they shut their doors for the final time. Earlier this year they revealed that Shadow Gambit is their last game.
“We have to acknowledge that our future production costs are growing faster than potential revenues of our genre.” said Mimimi. “The increased financial pressure and level of risk became unsustainable. Additionally, whenever our games got close to release and were finally fun to play, a new fight for funding of the following projects started, making this a continuous cycle.”
Let’s hope Mimimi can go out with a bang.
