Red Dead Redemption 2 just hit its highest-ever player count on Steam – WGB, Home of AWESOME Reviews
Nearly 4 years after its release, Red Dead Redemption 2 just hit its highest-ever concurrent peak player count on Steam, managing to get a whopping 77,655 living out their cowboy fantasies. At the time I’m writing this, 13:15 in the UK on a Monday, there are 63,094 people riding around.
The spike in players is probably because Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently 67% off, bringing its price down to under £20/$20. It’s not like the game doesn’t bring in players without a sale, though: throughout 2023 it has consistently had more than 40,000 players a day, with its lowest count still being an impressive 37,000.
Sadly, the game’s player base has often voiced concerns that they have been forgotten by Rockstar who focus the majority of their efforts on GTA V’s online component, despite the fact that Red Dead Redemption 2 still has a healthy community and has sold nearly 60 million copies, making it one of the best-selling games ever. With the reveal of the next Grand Theft Auto just weeks away, that community will probably end up feeling completely abandoned.
A remaster of Red Dead Redemption launched earlier this year and was later updated with a 60fps mode. However, there’s still no word on Red Dead Redemption 2 getting a current-gen update.
