Tango Gameworks has been bought by Krafton, and a Hi-Fi Rush sequel has been teased – WGB

Months after being shut down by Microsoft, Krafton has announced their purchase of Tango Gameworks, the creators of Hi-Fi Rush for an undisclosed amount

Tango Gameworks was seemingly shuttered by Microsoft in June of this year, along with several other studios. It was a controversial closure as Hi-Fi Rush was a critical darling and had recently been ported to PlayStation 5.

But now, it seems Tango Gameworks will live on as part of the Krafton family alongside Bluehole Studio, PUBG Studios and several more. Krafton, which is based in South Korea, has published numerous games such as PUBG: Battlegrounds, The Callisto Protocol and Moonbreaker.

” KRAFTON, Inc. today welcomed the talented people of Tango Gameworks to their team, marking an exciting moment in the company’s global expansion and its first significant investment in the Japanese video game market,” said Krafton. “This strategic move will include the rights to Tango Gameworks’ acclaimed IP, Hi-Fi RUSH.”

Perhaps the most intriguing part of the press release comes when Krafton appears to confirm that Hi-Fi Rush 2 is likely; “…KRAFTON intends to collaborate with Xbox and ZeniMax to ensure a smooth transition and maintain continuity at Tango Gameworks, allowing the talented team to continue developing the Hi-Fi RUSH IP and explore future projects.”

According to the press release, all existing Tango Gameworks titles will continue to be available as normal.

Personally, this is hugely exciting because Tango Gameworks are a highly talented group, and it was shocking to see their closure. Sure, their games weren’t bringing in the big bucks, but they gave Xbox variety and some critical clout, especially with Hi-Fi Rush which won numerous awards.
