TimeSplitters 1, 2 & Future Perfect are coming to PlayStation Plus Premium this August – WGB

Sony has revealed the latest additions to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium for this month and amongst the collection are three classics from the PS2 era: TimeSplitters, Time Splitters 2 and TimeSplitters: Future Perfect.

All three games will be coming to PlayStation Plus Premium on Tuesday, 20th of August along with the other twelve games that were announced. As part of the recent PS2 emulation push, the TimeSplitters series will likely be available to purchase separately for anyone wanting to own them outright. They will most likely have trophy support, too. However, neither of these things were officially confirmed in the blog post on PlayStation.com.

“TimeSplitters is a renowned PS2 first-person shooter series that plunges players into an epic battle against the malevolent TimeSplitters, a race dwelling outside of time and space,”says the blog in regard to TimeSplitters 1. “The game features a rich 18 level single-player campaign, taking players through pivotal historical moments, from ancient civilisations to futuristic landscapes, battling the TimeSplitters to alter history’s course.”

Sadly, it seems like we’ll never get to see another TimeSplitters game. Embracer briefly brought back developer Free Radical with goal of creating a new game in the series, but shut the studio down last year before it ever got a chance to release a single project.

Sword Art Online: Lost Song will join TimeSplitters as the final game in the Premium lineup, although this PS3 title will only be available via streaming.

As for the games joining Plus Extra on August 20th, it’s a fun mix. Here’s the what you can look forward to if you subscribe to the service.
