RUMOR: Switch successor to begin production next quarter according to Taiwanese manufacturer
We’ve had a few different rumors and speculations from various sources recently regarding the long awaited successor to the Nintendo Switch. All of the recent rumors seem to point to the same conclusion: This console is on its way in the relatively near future. That’s true of the latest as well, which comes in the form of a manufacturing report from Weltrend Semiconductor, Inc. CEO Lin Chongtao.
Weltrend Semiconductor is a manufacturer based in Taiwan, and they held a briefing recently to discuss their company’s status and future growth. Of note for Nintendo fans, Chongtao stated that he expects orders for video game consoles to increase in the third quarter due to “shipments of the new PlayStation 5, Xbox and Nintendo Switch models”. If this is anything to go by, that would mean that production on the new system would begin sometime in the quarter beginning September 2024.
If rumors of a new Nintendo console debuting in the first half of next year are true, then this manufacturing schedule would make a lot of sense. That said, this is just a rumor right now, and like all Nintendo Switch 2 rumors, it should be taken with some massive grains of salt. Stay tuned, as more future Switch rumblings are sure to pop up again soon.
