We’ve got a pretty good idea of what Nintendo’s major 2025 releases will be, but that doesn’t mean fans aren’t hungry for more news. It seems like there’s always a rumor or two popping up about when the next Nintendo Direct will air, and now we’ve got another one to contend with. The latest rumor suggests that a new Direct will occur sometime this month, but not until after Donkey Kong Bananza’s release this Thursday, July 17th.
This one comes from Nate the Hate, an industry insider who has shared plenty of leaks in the past that turned out to be true. In a recent episode of his podcast, he revealed what he’s heard about the upcoming Direct. You can read his exact words below.
“What I have been told… There is a Direct this month, so the month of July. But, that Direct will not take place until after Donkey Kong Bananza releases. Beyond that, I have no additional information, I do not have information as to the exact timing at this point.
“If I had to speculate, I would say probably the last week of July because Friday of that week is August 1st, right, which is Nintendo’s earning report day. So I could see them having a Direct that week leading to that investor’s report.”
While we recently had a Direct focused on Donkey Kong Bananza, there hasn’t been a more general Direct since April. It does seem like the time is ripe for some more looks at the Switch 2’s 2025 slate, but with Nintendo, you never know for sure. As always, we’ll have to wait and see whether this one turns out to be true.
