The second Super Mario Bros. movie is set to hit theaters on April 3rd, 2026. Outside of that date, we really don’t know anything else about the film. Fans have been thinking we might find out details in honor of Mario’s 40th anniversary, which lands on Sept. 13th, 2025. Now we have even more evidence of that, thanks to some recent filings from NBC Universal.
NBC Universal has been snagging web domains related to Mario, and it seems these might have tipped us off as to what the next film will be about. Here’s the domains that have been picked up thus far:
- “supermariogalaxy-lefilm.com”
- “supermariogalaxy-lapelicula.com”
- “supermariogalaxy.movie”
Unless NBC Universal is trying to throw us off the trail with fake domains, it looks like we can expect a Super Mario Galaxy-style approach to the second Mario movie. Chances are we’ll find out more in just a matter of hours, so hang tight, Mario fans!
UPDATE: Evidence mounts for the Super Mario Galaxy movie name, as oddly enough, yet another potential confirmation has come in from Old Spice.
Rumors of Old Spice leaking the name of the second Mario movie came out about a month back, with many believing the photographic evidence to be a fake. Now we’re seeing that Procter & Gamble, the parent company for Old Spice, registered the two scent names you see on the cans above, and they did so in July. In other words, it really does look like Nintendo and NBC Universal are going with a Galaxy-themed name for the sequel film. If the cans are legit, we can expect the film’s name to be “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.” (h/t Nintendeal)
