Is Garden Horizons Adding Gifting or Trading?

At the moment, we don’t know for sure. The developers haven’t mentioned that they will add gifting or trading in a future update. However, many players on the official Discord server have shared their concerns when it comes to this game mechanic, and that it’s best not to add it.

Why Is It Bad?

In Grow a Garden, you could ‘gift’ a player a crop by handing it to them. It was one-sided, but many used it as a way to trade. Normally, two players would swap crops, usually of equal value, to ensure it is a fair deal. However, as GaG became more popular, many scammers started playing.

Scammers would ask to trade with another player for a high-rarity pet or crop, but when it came to the trade, they would wait for the other player to go first. Once the scammer got what they wanted, they would leave the game and never gift them anything in return.

Some people in the GaG Discord started vouching for players, and people could search their username in the chat to make sure they were trustworthy before they traded with them.

Changing The System

Although many players share their opinion that Garden Horizons shouldn’t add this system, the game has already taken elements of GaG and improved them. If done right, trading could be great and would allow players to obtain rarer or better quality crops.

The best way to add this system is to ensure both parties are willing to trade something. If it’s a one-sided trade, a scammer could leave before giving anything back. Developers could design a system that forces two players to make a fair trade, so both parties get something in return.
