Pawsta is a cozy claymation cooking game where a mouse named Rigatoni is trying to help their grandmother in her restaurant.
The gameplay itself is simple, cute, and just very fun. You can see what your customer wants via icons that appear. You can then go around the kitchen preparing the dish. Once you have grabbed the pasta dough out of the fridge, you need to roll it out, cut it, and then cook it. Then it needs to go to the pasta sauce station, the topping station, and to be served. All of these little interactions are short and cute, just giving you a bit of something to do. You can choose how much sauce you feel is good or how much of a topping you want. When you serve it, you’ll get a little animation if it’s perfect and if it’s not, the customers takes it and eats it anyway.
Unlike other cooking games, nobody will get mad if you take your time. I suppose animals are in less of a hurry and don’t worry as much about how fast you are when you’re making dinner. You can really take your time as it doesn’t matter if you need to wash the dishes or spend more time cooking your pasta. I did find that my first time playing was spent figuring out what to do next, as often the highlights to show you what you should be doing wasn’t clear enough for me to fully understand the actions I should have been taking.
Other than that small issue, Pawsta is a fantastic game. I love the cute look of it all, making the pasta is so much fun, and it’s neat to hear about Rigatoni’s family and their famous cooking. Eventually, the game will take you all over the world, offering different culinary styles and teaching you new ways to create dishes.
