In this episode, I set out to answer a simple question: can you still build a solid retro game collection by shopping at local game stores in 2026?
I start by trading in a stack of games that just aren’t moving online, then hit the road to see what game stores in my area actually have to offer. Along the way, I quickly realize there aren’t many stores nearby… so I grab my collector friend Frank and we take a road trip to expand the search.
From great selections and fair prices to overpriced shelves and missed opportunities, this trip had a little bit of everything. I’m hunting for specific PS2 games from my wanted list, revisiting stores that impressed me, and comparing in-store prices to what you’d expect to pay online.
