Sony has officially revealed July’s additions to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, with Rise of the Ronin and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora leading a reasonably solid month for Extra and Premium subscribers.
Team Ninja’s open-world action RPG Rise of the Ronin is the biggest addition and is available through PlayStation Plus Extra in the UK and US from today, July 15. Japanese subscribers will get access on July 16.
The rest of the lineup is being released across several different dates as Sony continues experimenting with staggered PlayStation Plus launches in selected regions.
Sony’s explanation for this odd staggered release schedule? They are “exploring new ways to deliver PlayStation Plus Game Catalog titles in select markets.”
Very helpful, Sony.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Firefighting Simulator: Ignite will both become available globally on July 21. The former is Ubisoft’s first-person open-world adventure set on Pandora, while the latter lets up to four players tackle fires and rescue civilians together.
Several more games will then arrive in the UK, US and Japan on July 28, including the retro-inspired brawler Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind – which I’ve personally been very excited to play – the original Dying Light, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector and Snow Bros. Wonderland.
Here is the full PlayStation Plus Extra lineup for July:
- Rise of the Ronin — PS5 — July 15 in the UK and US
- Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora — PS5 — July 21
- Firefighting Simulator: Ignite — PS5 — July 21
- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind — PS5 and PS4 — July 28
- Dying Light — PS4 — July 28
- Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector — PS5 — July 28
- Snow Bros. Wonderland — PS5 — July 28
Premium subscribers are also getting two PlayStation 2 classics on July 21: Midway’s psychic action game Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy and Quantic Dream’s supernatural thriller Indigo Prophecy, better known as Fahrenheit outside North America. Both classics will be playable on PS5 and PS4.
