Revive8bit has recently released The Shaft, an ambitious dystopian platformer for the Amstrad CPC that follows a low-level mechanic ascending through a strictly tiered underground society after discovering a, hidden, life-altering secret. Featuring its own Amstrad CPC physics, a 59-level climb, and a cable lasso to neutralize foes, the game focuses on navigating environmental hazards, complex, color-coded key puzzles, and managing health and lives to reach the surface of The Shaft.
Utilizing a 128-bit persistent memory system, the game ensures that keys, opened doors, and unlocked areas remain accessible throughout the extensive, non-linear platforming game, while also providing elevator shortcuts. Players must navigate intricate, cross-level, and sometimes reversed,, key-and-vault chains, which, are managed by an automated, validation system that removes, the risk of dead-ends, during the challenging climb….
- Sadly the game doesn’t seem to have any sound or music which is a huge shame
