HeartWeaver is a 3D puzzle adventure game where you play as Ace, who is trapped inside their own mind. You’ll need to solve puzzles, understand their memories and figure out their emotions to guide them to healing.
It’s an interesting place inside Ace’s mind. There are a lot of different worlds – some of which hold memories that they cannot quite remember as they’ve been taken over by vines. Some feel like moments that represent other things. Some just feel strange. In HeartWeaver, you’re also not alone. A giant book monster called Mark is also there. Though, when I played. I did not like Mark.
Mark is harsh, often criticising and is almost always right. It’s annoying and I don’t like interacting or listening to him, but you really do have to, if you want to continue on inside Ace’s mind and hopefully fund a way out. I played HeartWeaver at Pocket Gamer Connects, here I got to see a lot of the world and understand the meaning behind the game.
You do often have the ability to destroy the various vines that are all over Ace’s mind, but puzzles with octopus monsters need to be solved, without finding a way to destroy them. Slowly, you can recover memories that Ace has long put away, and hopefully work through to a place of healing without repressing more emotions. Depending on how Ace feels, things like Sadness, Fear and Anger have their own abilities – slowing down time, leaving your body, and pushing things further away from you – all of which can be used to solve puzzles without harming your emotional state.
Though the worlds themselves feel fragmented, everything inside Ace’s brain makes sense. There are a lot of repressed moments, things which are not as they seemed, and bits of the story which will slowly reveal themselves to you.
You can play a demo of HeartWaver on Steam and wishlist the game ahead of it’s release.
