Hyperviolent – Alpha Demo | Alpha Beta Gamer

Hyperviolent is a brutal retro FPS that draws inspiration from 90’s classics as you investigate an asteroid mining colony that’s been ravaged by a mysterious infection.

In Hyperviolent you are a lone hero who has responded to a distress signal that originated from a mining colony on the Commodus Asteroid 27-C. After docking your ship it soon becomes apparent that a deadly infection has turned all the inhabitants into mindless monsters and you’ll have to fight your way through them as you search for answers.

Although it’s inspired by 90’s shooters, Hyperviolent is a little slower paced and RPG-like then the likes of Doom and Quake. There are plenty of optional data logs to read, minor puzzles and there’s also promise of upgradeable weapons in the full game. One particularly cool aspect is that you can choose individual weapons and equipment to carry in each hand and fire them independently using the left and right mouse buttons.

As it’s still early in development there are some issues with Hyperviolent. Most notably switching guns is a little fiddly, there’s no reload button and the game has some severe framerate issues. It shows a lot of promise though and feels like a very unique take on the retro FPS genre.
