‘Voltage High Society’ Punches Out Cybernetic Monstrosities
Voltage High Society dumps a prisoner in a city filled with mechanical creatures. And while you won’t want to get close to them, your fists are your only weapon.
The bleak, ruined city (which definitely carries an Escape from New York vibe) is filled with dark corners where bizarre machine beings wait to ambush you. You’ll need to get intimately familiar with this place as you make your way through it, unlocking abilities that will slowly give you access to your way out. Knowing your way around will help you know where to use all of those new tools, and it will also go a long way to making sure you aren’t beaten to death. The machines here don’t seem pleased that you’re marching around their city.
Seeing some of these cybernetic horrors charging your way would be scary enough if you had a gun. They move pretty fast, and they’re often terribly aggressive. You’ll be fighting them with just your fists, though, which results in some scream-inducing encounters when one of them gets the drop on you. You’ll need to quickly dodge around these creatures, but stay close enough that your knuckles can take them out. This forced proximity to chilling creatures makes you feel frighteningly connected to them. You FEEL that you can’t escape, and have to jump into a brawl that really gets the heart pumping. Things go down quickly in this game, shifting from exploration to a panicked brawl in an instant. Still, fighting these scary creatures with just your fists is extremely satisfying as well.
Voltage High Society takes us to an impressive ruined world and has us enter fistfights that are both terrifying and exhilarating. It’s hard to put down once it gets its hooks into you.
