5 Worst Structures For Loot in Minecraft
The world of Minecraft isn’t just about players and mobs and exploring the world. There are also structures that players can delve into and explore. Each structure in the game has its pros and cons—from the large underwater ocean monument to the small swamp hut down by the swamp.
But the one thing that each structure have in common—and the one thing that most players focus on—is the loot inside each structure. Almost all of the structures in Minecraft hold some kind of loot, whether it is given through a chest or simply displayed inside the structure for the player to break and take. However, a few structures are not all that great for looting items in the game. Read on to find out which structures contain the least loot in Minecraft.
Top 5 Structures in Minecraft that contain the least loot
5. Ruined Portal
A ruined portal is a naturally generated damaged nether portal that spawns in both the Nether and the Overworld. It contains some decoration and a loot chest around it. Most of these structures will generate items like iron nuggets, flint, obsidian, fire charge, etc., which are not the most useful to players.
The upside of looting Ruined Portals is that there are no hostile mobs to deal with, and players rarely find golden apples or enchanted golden apples. Though Ruined Portal might not be the worst place to loot in the game, it is undoubtedly underwhelming most of the time.
They can spawn underground, underwater, or exposed to the air. If they generate underground, they have air pockets around them. Natural terrain around ruined portals generates a netherrack. They also generate a mass of netherrack underneath them (including “stalactite”-like shapes, which may contain Blackstone deposits in the Nether.
4. Ocean Ruins
Minecraft’s Ocean Ruins, also known as Underwater Ruins, are minor buildings found exclusively on the seabed of Ocean biomes. They are typically made of Stone Bricks and Chiseled Stone, although Warm Oceans will make them out of Sandstone instead. It also generates a chest with okay-ish loot.
Most of the time, players will find wheat and coal in them, along with occasionally buried treasure maps and other items. Since buried treasure maps are relatively helpful, they are not the worst. However, wheat and coal will generate almost 84% of the time in Ocean Ruins. Ocean ruins are oceanic structures primarily composed of stone bricks or sandstone.
They come in many different sizes, varying from large villages to single ruined huts. They are rare and have cold and warm variants. In Minecraft, a Pillager Outpost is a structure that spawns naturally in the game near a village (about 300 blocks away from the village).
The Outpost comprises a small group of structures and is guarded by pillagers. Because the Pillager Outpost generates near a village, it can appear in any biome that a village can. For example, you can find Pillager Outposts in biomes such as the Plains, Desert, Savanna, Taiga, etc.
3. Pillager Outpost
Pillager outposts are semi-rare structures, generating every several hundred to couple thousand blocks. This makes them rarer than villages but less rare than woodland mansions. Apart from that, the chest might also generate wheat, bottle o’ enchanting, carrot, potato, arrow, etc., which are not worth taking, especially when loads of Pillagers are considered.
These are some of the only items worth looting from a Pillager Outpost’s chest. Goat Horns are brand-new items in the game that were released a few months ago. Pillager outposts generate with foundations similar to that of a woodland mansion: watchtowers use cobblestone, birch planks, and dark oak logs as their foundation; tents and cages generate dark oak planks as their foundation; log piles use horizontal dark oak logs as their foundation, and targets generate cobblestone as a foundation.
The outpost tower generates each time. Up to 4 other smaller structures may spawn around the periphery of the main outpost structure.
2. Igloo
Igloos are structures that are naturally generated in snowy biomes. They are small round structures constructed primarily of snow blocks. This shows that someone was working on curing the poor passive mob. In half of all igloos, an oak trapdoor can be found under the carpet (the third white carpet straight ahead from the doorway), leading down a long ladder shaft to a basement.
This passageway and the basement are built from stone bricks, some of which are infested blocks. In this basement, there is a brewing stand, a cauldron, and a chest. Beyond the far wall, behind iron bars in two different cages, are a plains snowy villager and a plains zombie villager. The zombie villager can be cured with a golden apple and a splash potion of Weakness, both found inside the igloo.
However, this may make the zombie villager lose their profession. Igloos are uncommon settlements that generate in cold biomes. If the location is adequately investigated, players will find a secret entrance down to its basement where a trapped Zombie Villager and other blocks will be present.
Though players will always find a golden apple in the chest, other items apart from that will be quite common. Also, since players themselves can craft golden apples, this structure is not the best to loot. As for Village and Pillage, igloos with basements can be easily registered as villages due to having one villager, a bed, and brewing stands and cauldrons, which count as job sites. However, the villager needs to be freed from the iron bars to claim a job site, or the zombie villager is cured and freed to be able to register as a village.
1. Swamp Hut
A swamp hut is a small hut styled after real-world stilt houses. In Minecraft, these are the homes of witches, a hostile mob. Witches are commonly found inside the hut and will spawn naturally in the hut during the night, provided the hut is not lit.
There will be a crafting table, cauldron, some mushrooms, and a black cat inside the hut. Hence, players can ignore this structure since it will not be worth fighting the hostile mob. Swamp huts typically contain one pot with either a red or brown mushroom. They also contain a crafting table and a cauldron, possibly containing potions. Swamp huts always generate a black cat inside.
Swamp Huts are arguably the worst structure to loot in the game. Not only will it have a Witch to deal with, but it will not generate any chests to loot. Due to the height and lack of stairs, if a witch falls out of its hut, it cannot get back in on its own. A swamp hut makes an appearance in Minecraft: Story Mode. It appears when Jesse and his/her friends are on the run from Ivor and the Wither Storm.
