Following the reveal of Super Mario Bros. Wonder today, some Nintendo fans took to social media to question whether Charles Martinet has returned to voice Mario. Some people find the voice work to be so different that they believe the longtime voice of Mario has been replaced.
To be completely honest, I don’t think this Mario sounds very different at all. I think people might be so used to hearing the same Mario sound recycled over and over again that it’s a bit shocking to hear him saying new things. That’s just my own speculation, of course. We don’t know for sure that Charles Martinet is doing the voice work here, but we’ve reached out to Nintendo for comment.
