Gaming statue maker Gaming Heads will offer refunds following Sony pulling their PlayStation license – WGB, Home of AWESOME Reviews

There was a small kerfuffle last week when Gaming Heads, who create various types of videogame related collectibles, announced that Sony had suddenly pulled their license and had told Gaming Heads to destroy all the existing PlayStation licensed stock. But the biggest issue was that Gaming Heads was directing customers who had already paid to Sony for refunds, and even included contact details for a Sony employee.

People were understandably pissed by Gaming Head’s plan to shirk their legal obligations and the company’s Facebook page was immediately flooded by angry customers.

Now, the company has finally done the right thing. In a new statement that pops up as soon as you visit their site, Gaming Heads states that, “we will do all we can for you and the rest of the Community (including processing your refunds).”

The statement go into some further details as well, some of which make an already confusing situation even more baffling. According to Gaming Heads they have managed to buy-back some of their items from their wholesale and distribution partners meaning they can now complete community orders for their Jak 3, The Last of Us 2 Ellie, Kratos (Norse) and Kratos on a Throne statues.

However, this seems to contradict their prior statement which said Sony had told them all existing stock must be destroyed and no existing orders could be fulfilled.

Gaming Heads also say they are waiting to hear from Sony regarding royalty payments for items customers had already ordered but Sony had cancelled. Again, this seems somewhat at odds with their words about buying back statues and completing orders.

In short, the situation continues to a confusing mess and it’s no clearer why Sony decided to terminate the decade-long relationship with Gaming Heads. Regardless of exactly what happened behind the scenes, though, Gaming Head’s handling of it did nothing but hurt their reputation. Hopefully they’ll learn from this whole debacle.

Meanwhile, I’ve reached out to Sony for comment and will update this post if they opt to say anything.
