Which is the best GTA game of all time?

With the news that we’re getting our first look at GTA 6 in early December, I thought it would be a good time to have a look back at the series’ history. There have been quite a few Grand Theft Auto games since the series’ inception way back in 1997 (more than the name GTA 6 would have you believe).

But which was the best GTA game* of all time? Yeah, I know you all spotted that asterisk so let’s put our cards on the table — we’re only counting the mainline console games. I’m not saying that Chinatown Wars couldn’t be the best GTA game, but… actually I lied, that’s exactly what I’m saying.

Likewise, as much as it pains me, because The Ballad of Gay Tony absolutely slapped, we’re not counting the expansions either. Right, the rules have been laid out. Lets get voting. For me, it’s got to be San Andreas — the wacky missions, the three cities, Wu Zi Mu — it had it all.
