Underground adds Peter Griffin, boss battles, a new island and more – WGB, Home of AWESOME Reviews

After the Big Bang event wiped out the Chapter 4 island, Fortnite is going underground for its brand-new season which is adding heaps of cool stuff, including the patriarch of the cartoon show Family Guy. Yup, Peter Griffin is officially in Fortnite, and he’s looking swole.

Chapter 5: Underground brings with it a whole new island. Locations of interest include an underground train you can actually ride in, mansions and marinas. Lurking across these new locations are five boss battles, one of which is Peter Griffin himself. Each boss defeated awards you with a special Society Medallion which boosts your regeneration so long as it’s in your inventory. The more badges you hold the faster your regeneration. There’s a catch, though, because having a medallion will let enemy players see your location. Each badge makes the location more precise.

Want more? Of course, you do! A new SUV is being added along with the ability to customise vehicles by choosing decals, bodies and more. You’ll also be able to modify weapons at select points across the map.

Speaking of which, there’s also the Ballistic Shield to try out. Apparently, it’ll let you shoot a pistol while hiding behind it.

As for characters, you’ll eventually be able to unlock Peter Griffin himself, a new version of Jones and even Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid franchise.

There’s still more to talk about yet, though! There’s going to be a special Lego game mode launching inside of Fortnite on December 7th. It’s described as a “crafting-survival” game and as part of the new experience 1,200 Fortnite skins will be getting free Lego versions.

Probably due to the sheer headache it would cause dealing with all the licensing, these new skins will only apply to original Fortnite outfits and will also only be available within the Lego game mode. Still, 1,200 skins is bloody impressive!

As someone who doesn’t even dabble in Fortnite, watching it from the outside is kind of mind-blowing. Its insane how many crossovers and events it has and how much of a pop-culture impact it has had over the years. From out here, it kind of looks like a nonsensical mess and yet from everyone I talk to says, on the inside it all makes a weird kind of sense and is heaps of fun to play. Maybe I need to jump in and just give it a go, but it’s a daunting thing, like trying to jump into a TV show that’s on its tenth season.
