Kingmakers just became my most-anticipated Xbox release thanks to its wild gameplay
I love a good bit of wackiness with my video games, so when Kingmakers was announced this week, I immediately turned into an over-excited puppy… until I spotted that only PC has been listed as a platform for this historically accurate period piece. Thankfully, however, Pixel Dash has commented on the possibility of a console launch numerous times on X, with one reply saying that it “will definitely be on Series S and X.”
Kingmakers could be coming to Xbox Series X|S
According to Kingmakers’ description on Steam, “you’re the last hope of a dying world,” and must travel 500 years into the past to change the outcome of a bloody war in medieval England to create a new timeline and stop an apocalypse. It supports up to four-player co-op, tasking you and your friends with storming castle walls and defending your own strongholds with an arsenal of weaponry that includes assault rifles, grenade launchers, armored SUVs, attack helicopters, and airstrikes, to name a few.
The battles are fully simulated in real-time, as thousands of soldiers react to your decisions as you flit between combat, issue orders to your team, build fortifications, and more. Pixel Dash says that it’s using “next-gen multi-threaded AI” to control the NPC’s “decision-making, pathfinding, and loyalty. This, combined with a unique procedural animation system, allows Kingmakers to offer an unprecedented level of character and combat fidelity.”
Kingmakers looks incredible from the early footage we’ve seen so far, and with the potential for it to launch on Xbox Series X|S, Kingmakers has joined Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 as one of my most-anticipated shooters of 2024. Check out everything we know about Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 for plenty of juicy details on Focus Entertainment’s upcoming shooter.
Will it have the firepower to shoot a hole in our list of the best third-person shooters on Xbox? We’ll have to wait and see, but it certainly looks promising.
