Surgeon Simulator 2 Xbox servers to close next week

Three Surgeon Simulator 2 achievements are balancing on the edge of a scalpel, as developer Bossa Studios has announced it is shutting down the Surgeon Simulator 2 servers on September 17. While that would usually spell doom for any online achievements, Bossa has confirmed that an offline mode will be coming to the game, which could save its list from an amputation.

Surgeon Simulator servers closing on September 17, 2024

“Starting September 17, 2024, we will be closing the online servers for Surgeon Simulator 2,” Bossa Studios said in a statement on X. “Don’t worry, you will still be able to experience our game in offline, single-player mode. Our game will receive an update on the day, adding an offline mode.”

Surgeon Simulator 2 currently has three online-only achievements: Ace Doctor (win a multiplayer match), Surgical Prodigy (win ten multiplayer matches), and the hardest of them all, Unstoppable Surgeon, which requires winning ten multiplayer matches in a row.

At this stage, it’s unclear if they will be saved with the offline patch set to be added on the day of the server closure. We’ve reached out to Bossa for further clarification. If you want the completion and want to play it safe, you will want to get cracking on these ASAP, as you only have five days before the servers go dark.

For PC players, there is a Windows stack of Surgeon Simulator 2 achievements with the same three online-only achievements.

In other server closure news, Zen Studios has announced it is shutting the servers and delisting Disco Dodgeball Remix next year.
