‘Design and Conjure’ Helps a Witch get Orgzanized

Design and Conjure is a light puzzle game about unpacking and customising where you’re a witch just getting started after graduating.

There is something extremely cozy about organising a room full of items. In this game, you are a witch who has just returned home after graduating from higher sorcerous education and is looking to start her own journey. But first, it’s time to unpack.

Design and Conjure - A witch speaks to a glowing cat. A cluttered bedroom is in the background behind them.

This is a pretty low-stakes puzzle game as you primarily set up rooms, unpack boxes, and design what you want things to look like. Unlike other similar games, you actually can change the color of items, making the room feel more personalized to what you like. I didn’t quite use this aspect of the game as much as I probably could have, as I felt that the main draw for these types of puzzle games are the puzzles themselves.

When it comes to arranging items in Design and Conjure, it’s easy to rotate things around, find spaces for all your objects, and move stuff that’s already there when you start. You do have a list of requirements which sometimes need you to find items and move them or make sure that something is specifically placed. It’s a light bit of puzzling, but good as a structure. There isn’t a sort of timer or any real rush which lends well to the cozy aspect of the genre. I also didn’t find it challenging or frustrating to get everything in a good spot for the room to be full.

Between levels, you can also talk to your cat, Cosmo, who is your familiar. He’s a silly creature that acts like a normal housecat (although I do hope in the full game his character asset in the level looks as cute as his character does when he talks). The cassette at the bottom of the screen, which controls your music, is also a very nice touch!

Design and Conjure is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can grab a demo or add it to your Steam Wishlist in advance of its release in August 2026.
