GTA 6 Physical Edition Does Not Contain A Disc – WGB

I bring bad tidings, my shiny disc-loving friends: Grand Theft Auto VI’s physical edition does not contain a disc.

Rockstar confirmed the news themselves in the same post where the issued new details on pre-orders and the Ultimate Edition. Oh, and announced the price.

The physical edition will be available a full week ahead of the proper release on November 19, and that’s because it’s just a code in the box and Rockstar wants you to have time to pre-load the game.

“Players who pre-order digital versions of Grand Theft Auto VI will be able to begin pre-loading on November 12 to ensure they are able to play at launch on November 19. The physical version of Grand Theft Auto VI, containing a download code inside the box, will be available starting November 12 to support pre-loading.”

Let’s be honest, as dissapointing as this news is, it’s hardly surprising in this day and age. Lots of companies have been ditching actual discs for download codes, which is a pain in the arse for lovers of physical media. But there was some hope that Rockstar would be one of the big boys willing to cover the cost and let us have a proper physical release.

That said, there’s a good chance they’ll release a disc in a box at a later date, probably because they know plenty of people will double-dip.

So really, the only reason to pre-order the physical edition is so you can have the box on your shelf.
