Finding the perfect pair of wireless earbuds isn’t easy. The market is packed with options that promise much – crystal-clear audio, booming bass, all-day comfort. Yet very few truly stand out until you’ve spent weeks – or even months – living with them.
We’ve reviewed plenty of accessories, pieces of gaming and audio gear over the years, and whilst our focus will always be Xbox, we’ve discovered that a great set of earbuds can transform far more than your gaming sessions. Whether you’re diving into Xbox Cloud Gaming on your phone, travelling with a handheld like the ROG Ally X, listening to music on your daily commute or simply shutting out the world with active noise cancellation, the right earbuds make all the difference.
These aren’t products we’ve picked from spec sheets or marketing claims. Every pair listed here has been thoroughly reviewed, with some becoming daily companions for years. If you’re looking for the very best wireless earbuds we’ve used, these are the ones we’d happily recommend.

1. SteelSeries Arctis GameBuds for Xbox – The Best Overall

If we could only recommend one pair of earbuds from everything we’ve reviewed, these would be it.
The SteelSeries Arctis GameBuds for Xbox haven’t just become our favourite gaming earbuds – they’ve become one of our favourite pieces of gaming hardware, full stop.
What makes them so special is their versatility. Bluetooth connectivity makes them brilliant companions for mobile gaming, music and everyday use, but it’s the included 2.4GHz wireless USB dongle that elevates them above almost everything else. Simply plug it into your Xbox and you’ve got a premium wireless gaming experience without reaching for a bulky headset.
Comfort is exceptional too. SteelSeries spent considerable time designing a shape that suits an enormous range of ears, and it shows. We’ve happily worn them for entire days without feeling the need to take them out.
Sound quality is equally impressive, with detailed 360-degree spatial audio, excellent microphones for chat and one of the best companion apps we’ve used. Whether you’re racing through Forza Horizon 6, exploring huge RPGs or simply catching up on podcasts, these cover it.
Add superb active noise cancellation, around 40 hours of combined battery life and seamless switching between Bluetooth and wireless gaming, and it’s difficult to find any meaningful weaknesses.
Quite simply, every new pair of earbuds we review gets compared against these. So far, nothing has managed to knock them off the top spot.
Why We Love Them
- Outstanding gaming performance
- Native Xbox wireless support
- Superb comfort
- Fantastic ANC
- Brilliant companion app
- Still our favourite gaming earbuds
2. Status Pro X – The Premium Pick

Replacing a product you genuinely love is never easy.
For us, the Status Between 3ANC earbuds (see below) had been daily drivers for more than two years, so the Status Pro X had a huge challenge ahead of them. Thankfully, they didn’t disappoint.
Everything feels more refined. The case is smaller, the earbuds themselves have been slimmed down and the overall package feels like an evolution rather than a simple refresh. Status has even expanded the range with the stylish new Moonbeam colour alongside the original black finish. And believe us, that Moonbeam flavour shines.
Most importantly, the sound is phenomenal. The combination of large dynamic drivers and balanced armature drivers creates a rich, detailed listening experience with powerful bass that never overwhelms the finer details.
The active noise cancellation continues to be one of the standout features. Whether travelling, working in busy environments or simply wanting to lose yourself in music, the Pro X creates an impressively isolated listening experience.
The companion app deserves praise too, offering custom EQ settings, configurable controls, multipoint connectivity and one of the cleanest interfaces we’ve used.
They’re undeniably expensive, but everything about the Status Pro X feels premium.
Why We Love Them
- Outstanding sound quality
- Excellent ANC
- Superb mobile app
- Comfortable enough for all-day use
- Premium build throughout
3. Status Between 3ANC – Still A Fantastic Choice

Very few products stay in daily use for years.
The Status Between 3ANC managed exactly that. And yes, we know we’re including TWO Status products in this list. They deserve the placements.
Long before the Pro X arrived, these earbuds became our go-to choice for almost everything. Gaming through Xbox Cloud Gaming and Game Pass, travelling, working in coffee shops, listening to music or simply escaping the outside world – they handled every scenario brilliantly.
Their biggest strength remains their incredible active noise cancellation. Even today, we’d still place it amongst the very best we’ve experienced, creating an almost surreal level of isolation whenever you need it. And there’s no doubt that the comfort also deserves special mention. Thanks to the clever dual silicone fitting design, they stay securely in place whether you’re travelling, working or exercising.
The triple-driver setup delivers wonderfully rich audio, whilst thoughtful touch controls, excellent battery life and stylish retro-inspired looks help them continue to stand out.
We’ll admit that many moons ago there were the occasional connection quirks during initial pairing, but they were minor frustrations rather than deal-breakers. And since then, perfection.
Even after newer products have arrived, the Between 3ANC remains one of the finest wireless earbuds we’ve ever reviewed.
Why We Love Them
- Exceptional active noise cancellation
- Fantastic long-term comfort
- Rich, detailed sound
- Excellent battery life
- Distinctive design
4. GravaStar Sirius Plus – Brilliant Value

Not everyone wants to spend over £200 on wireless earbuds, and thankfully you don’t need to.
Much like other GravaStar products – the quirky Mars Pro Bluetooth Speaker – the GravaStar Sirius Plus offers remarkable value without feeling like a budget compromise.
Its eye-catching steampunk-inspired charging case certainly won’t appeal to everyone, but it’s unlike anything else on the market. The satisfying mechanical latch and customisable lighting make every interaction feel just that little bit more enjoyable.
But then, once the GravaStar Sirius Plus earbuds are in your ears, things only get better.
The sound profile delivers punchy bass whilst still maintaining clarity across music and gaming, the touch controls are intuitive, and the active noise cancellation performs far better than we’d expected at this price point.
Gaming performance is another pleasant surprise, with excellent directional audio making these ideal companions for Xbox Cloud Gaming sessions or portable gaming devices. If you’re shopping on a tighter budget, it’s hard to argue against what GravaStar delivers here. And if you can get the P5’s, they are cheaper still.
Why We Love Them
- Outstanding value
- Excellent bass
- Reliable ANC
- Comfortable fit
- Unique styling
5. final VR3000 Wireless – Built For Gamers

The final VR3000 Wireless takes a slightly different approach. Rather than trying to be the perfect all-round earbuds, these are clearly aimed at gamers first.
Positional audio is excellent, making footsteps, enemy movement and environmental sounds incredibly easy to place during gameplay. When paired with the included ultra-low latency USB-C receiver, gaming feels responsive with virtually no noticeable delay.
They’re also excellent for podcasts and spoken content, producing wonderfully clear voices that make lengthy listening sessions a pleasure.
Music performance isn’t quite as strong out of the box due to a particularly bass-heavy tuning, although the companion app offers plenty of scope to tailor the sound profile to your preferences. And yep, the plastic charging case feels less premium than we’d like, and we’d have appreciated customisable touch controls, but neither issue detracts from what these earbuds do best.
If gaming is your priority, the VR3000 Wireless earns its place on this list.
Why We Love Them
- Excellent positional gaming audio
- Ultra-low latency wireless receiver
- Great for podcasts
- Comfortable fit
- Strong companion app
Which Earbuds Should You Buy?
Choosing between these buds ultimately comes down to how you’ll use them.
If gaming is your number one priority, the SteelSeries Arctis GameBuds for Xbox remain the undisputed champions. Nothing we’ve reviewed combines Xbox compatibility, comfort, audio quality and convenience quite so well.
If you’re after the finest music experience and don’t mind paying for premium quality, the Status Pro X is exceptional.
Travellers who value industry-leading active noise cancellation will still find plenty to love with the slightly older Status Between 3ANC, whilst those wanting outstanding value should head straight towards the GravaStar Sirius Plus – or anything that GravaStar create, actually.
Meanwhile, gamers focused on Cloud Gaming or handhelds should absolutely keep the final VR3000 Wireless on their shortlist.
Final Thoughts
Wireless earbuds have come a long way over the past few years, and we’ve been fortunate enough to review some excellent examples. Whilst every pair on this list excels in different areas, one thing links them all together – they’ve earned their place through extensive real-world use rather than a few hours of testing.
The SteelSeries Arctis GameBuds for Xbox continue to sit proudly at the top of our rankings and remain the earbuds we recommend most often, but each model here offers something unique. Whether your priority is premium sound, class-leading active noise cancellation, outstanding value or gaming-first performance, you won’t go far wrong with any of these choices.
