Most maze games are about finding the quickest route out. Go North though? Well, that’s all about encouraging players to slow down, explore and enjoy the journey just as much as the destination.
Launching today on Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, this cosy adventure mixes handcrafted labyrinths, clever puzzles and a gentle narrative into an experience that’s more about curiosity than competition.
If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if exploration took priority over combat, Go North might have the answer.

Every Path Leads Somewhere
You play as Dara, a young explorer known as a Littler, setting off on a journey to find the mysterious Maze God. Legend says that anyone clever – and determined – enough to reach him at the northernmost edge of the world will be granted a single wish.
The catch? Well, every step of the journey is hidden behind sprawling labyrinths, each designed to test your observation skills, problem-solving abilities and perseverance rather than your combat prowess. Thankfully, the exits always lie due north. Finding the route to them, however, is another matter entirely.
More Than Just Walking In Circles
Although navigating mazes forms the heart of the adventure, Go North constantly introduces new ideas to keep exploration feeling fresh.
Dara can uncover a variety of magical and technological gadgets along the way. Some are straightforward, like a hoverboard for quicker movement, while others are more unusual – including a robotic mouse capable of sniffing out the correct path to the exit.
Alongside these helpful tools come environmental puzzles, hidden passages, riddles and optional secrets, rewarding players willing to wander off the obvious route.
The main story unfolds across carefully designed environments, with new forest mazes introducing side quests, puzzles and hidden discoveries. And then, once you’ve reached the end of that adventure, Arcade Mode opens the door to an effectively endless stream of procedurally generated mazes, ensuring there’s always another challenge waiting beyond the next hedge or hidden corridor.
Players can also customise Dara with hats, scarves, backpacks, goggles and other unlockable cosmetics while hunting down the elusive Golden Compass hidden within each maze.
A Relaxed Adventure Worth Following?
In a year filled with action games, survival adventures and high-stakes RPGs, Go North offers something different – peaceful exploration, thoughtful puzzles and atmospheric environments that ensure it will feel like an adventure designed to be enjoyed at your own pace rather than rushed through.
Sometimes, simply knowing which direction to head is enough.
Go North is available today on Xbox Series X|S (Xbox Store) and PC via Steam.
