Burger Time – Data East’s classic 1982 arcade game gets a Commodore VIC-20 port

The latest release for the Commodore VIC-20 is a new conversion of the legendary 1982 arcade hit BurgerTime, originally designed by Data East. Developed by Beamrider, this port was built entirely from scratch using Assembly language. Writing the software in raw machine code allows the title to bypass standard performance limits, offering expanded VIC-20 owners a remarkably smooth and faithful recreation of the coin-op classic on this particular hardware.

In this arcade classic, players take control of the intrepid chef Peter Pepper as he navigates a maze of ladders. Your primary mission is to assemble giant, multi-layered hamburgers by running across the ingredients, causing buns, patties, and lettuce to drop down to the plates below. Making culinary masterpieces is no easy task, however, as you must constantly outmaneuver a relentless assortment of aggressive food items determined to end your kitchen career.
