Hasbro wants the Transformers games on Game Pass but Activision has lost them – WGB, Home of AWESOME Reviews

Here’s a fun piece of news: toy giant Hasbro want to see the various Transformers games get put onto Game Pass, but Activision has lost them all. Doh.

A number of Transformers games were produced by Activision over the years, including the absolutely brilliant War for Cybertron and its sequel, Fall of Cybertron. Both were fantastic, and because they weren’t tied into the movies or any existing story, the developers, High Moon Studios, were able to craft a fantastic story and superb combat.

However, in 2018 the licensing deal between Hasbro and Activision ended, resulting in the numerous Transformers games being removed from digital storefronts. The only way to play them now is to own the disc, or find a cracked copy online.

Speaking to TFW2005, Hasbro talked about the Gamer Edition line of figures they are producing which are based on the various videogame versions of the Transformers. When quizzed about the Activision published titles, Hasbro said that, “apparently Activision’s not sure what hard drives they’re on in their building. When a company eats a company that eats a company things get lost, and that’s very frustrating. Hope is that now that the deal is moving forward with Microsoft and Xbox that they’ll go through all of the archives and every hard drive to find it all, because it’s an easy Game Pass add. We want those games back up for people to have a chance to play.”

This caused Hasbro some problems. In the case of War for Cybertron, Hasbro apparently had to fire up an old computer and ripped the CAD files straight out of the game so that they could get the new figures looking as accurate as possible.

I’d love to see the old Transformers games be added to Game Pass, so hopefully the hard-drives can be found and a new deal struck.
