Xbox Game Pass has two games confirmed for August so far

Our list of upcoming Game Pass games is ever growing, but so far there are just two games confirmed for Xbox Game Pass in August, with Creatures of Ava and Sopa – Tale of the Stolen Potato arriving next month! There has also been no small amount of rumors and confusion around what’s joining the service next month. Let’s start with what’s been confirmed so far…

Creatures of Ava — August 7

Creatures of Ava is an action-adventure game arriving for Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass on August 7 with a focus on saving the creatures of planet Ava, rather than trying to capture them. Ava itself is suffering from a strange infection called The Withering, and we play as Vic, who, along with researcher Tabitha, aims to befriend Ava’s creatures, explore the planet, and understand how to save its inhabitants.

Sopa – Tale of the Stolen Potato — August

This one still doesn’t have a specific release date yet, but is confirmed as coming to Game Pass in August. Sopa – Tale of the Stolen Potato is a narrative adventure game in which Miho is sent to the pantry to fetch a potato for his grandma’s soup, and somehow winds up in a strange and fantastical land. Sopa counts Spirited Away, The Little Prince, and Coco amongst its inspirations, and sees Miho’s grandma and her kitchen changing subtly each time Miho returns from his adventures with a new ingredient.

That’s everything that’s been confirmed so far, although it’s interesting to see we still don’t have an exact day for Sopa. There was initially a third game down as joining Game Pass in August: SteamWorld Heist II. However, there has been some confusion with this one. Its announcement trailer mentioned that it was coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and to Game Pass as a day-one addition on August 8, but publisher Thunderful Games has since mentioned that this was an error (with a representative confirming to IGN that it was a mistake with the video editing), and that video has since been taken down. On top of that, there are reports that Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy could come to Game Pass in August. We’ll keep an eye out for more there!
