GTA 6 still set for 2025 Xbox release
GTA 6 on course for fall 2025 release
There’s a lot of info to sift through from Take-Two’s earnings conference call, but the biggest thing we’re all waiting to hear from Rockstar’s side of things is news on GTA 6, and indeed nearly every mention of GTA 6 from this earnings call comes with a reiteration that it’s set to launch in fall 2025.
Take-Two also mentions that the trailer above (which now sits with about 204 million views) managed to rack up 93 million views in 24 hours and “broke YouTube’s records for a non-music launch.” That seems, however, to be all Take-Two wants to say on the subject, as during a Q&A (thanks, PC Gamer, Take-Two chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick said, “There’s really no cookie-cutter answer to the question” of whether GTA 6 is still in “core development” and that “in any case it’s not the kind of insight we would give.”
GTA 5, meanwhile, came in for its fair share of mentions, with the fact that it has “over 200 million units sold-in to date,” while Zelnick says GTA Online “also surpassed our projections” and “the audience for Rockstar’s premium membership service, GTA+, grew strong double digits over last year.” We’ve heard previously about how well GTA Online has done, with one former Rockstar dev saying GTA 5’s story DLC was scrapped after GTA Online became a “cash cow.”
All we can do for now is wait for more news on the next GTA game, as we know that Rockstar is striving for “perfection” before releasing GTA 6.
