Master of Minefields – Check out this upcoming ‘Minesweeper’ game for the Commodore Amiga by Digital Worlds Studio

Ahh Minesweeper, a game that so many of us have played at least once! Although it wasn’t my type of game however, it certainly had its cult following. For those of you who don’t remember anything about this puzzler. Players had to clear the board of numbers without coming across deadly exploding bombs using help from clues about the number of neighbouring mines in each field. So why are we mentioning this game on Indie Retro News? Well Digital Worlds Studio is working on their own version of the game for the Commodore Amiga called ‘ Master of Minefields ‘.

And here’s the latest from the creator. ” I would like to share news on incoming Amiga game, that I have been developing for a while – Master of Minefields. The game is planned to take part in AmiGameJam 2024. It is my attempt to get back to Amiga game development after long years and also (if I can call it like that) tribute to my first game developed on Amiga still in 90s, that was Minesweeper in AMOS. The game itself is written in BlitzBasic 2.1 and it has 8 variants of Minesweeper in 10 game modes”.

Game features:

  • 64 colors on screen (currently AGA version and OCS is planned),
  • 10 game modes, including 2 players competition mode,
  • Over 350 stages to be completed on 4 difficulty levels,
  • Progress saves with autosave feature,
  • Keyboard, joysticks and CD32 controller support,
  • PAL version and limited NTSC support (WIP),
  • Minimal requirements: any AGA Amiga.
