Overbit uses files, cursors, and the internet to attack you in surprise minigames as it explores an world based on 2000s-era computers.
The game is a captivating, almost rage-inducing title where you need to discover the world living inside your computer before it falls apart. After downloading a mysterious virtual machine, you will meet a bunch of quirky creatures that live within the files. Some of these creatures are corrupted and others are just trying to survive instead of being destroyed.

Aimed at being a horror-comedy-RPG with nostalgic moments, you will need to start poking around inside the files that are left on this machine. However, that can trigger extremely challenging mini-games where you need to dodge cat hands, master some rhythm moments, and avoid a lot of bullet-like attacks. These minigames sometimes play one after another, giving you a lot of challenge while feeding in bits of story. This story tells the tale of how this virtual machine came to be and what happened to the creatures that aren’t acting quite right. Also, Overbit also tries to mess with you as you play its games and sort through its files. It does this by taking over your mouse, launching random pop-ups, creating errors, and not letting you leave. It’s interesting in so many ways!
I got the chance to play the game at BIG Conference, where I watched others struggle with the mini-games while becoming intrigued by the characters they were seeing. The game reminds me a bit of WarioWare (in the best sort of ways). You’ll need to decide what characters to trust and how to interpret the story along the way, which brings in interesting elements to what is otherwise a bunch of super frustrating minigames. I got tripped up often by mean characters, but there were different difficulties to make things easier and more accessible, which is always a must in these types of games.

Overbit is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can add it to your Steam Wishlist.
