Available for £2.49 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, the Ducks Galore DLC aims to enhance your chill-out sessions with:
- 27 Additional Ducks: A significant boost to your collection, each promising a unique personality.
- New Actions & Combos: Some of these new arrivals apparently introduce new interactions and potential combo events within the pool.
- Increased Relaxation? The description promises “increased relaxation” and even “the ducks’ gratitude” – make of that what you will!
- …And a Peacock?! In a somewhat unexpected twist, the DLC also includes a peacock. Quite how it interacts with the plastic ducks remains to be seen.
More Ducks, Same Pond?
Now, let’s be frank. When we reviewed the base game of Placid Plastic Duck Simulator, we weren’t entirely sold, awarding it a 2/5.
We noted: “‘Simulator’ is probably stretching the definition a little too far. Placid Plastic Duck Simulator is a screensaver, with no interaction outside of renaming your ducks. It’s like watching a summer holiday by the pool via CCTV, as you passively accumulate ducks and achievements. If that’s enough for you, then fair play: hook a duck and dive in. For us, it was about as exciting as watching a wet duck drying.“
The Ducks Galore DLC doesn’t seem set to drastically change that core experience. Instead, it offers more of the same passive, observational gameplay loop for those who genuinely find relaxation in watching digital ducks bob around.
If you fall into that category, adding 27 new personalities (and a peacock) to the mix for £2.49 might be just the ticket. The Xbox Store will sort you with a download, as will the PlayStation Store and the Nintendo eShop.
